Covenant Kids Run

This afternoon Trevor ran in the Covenant Kids Run as part the of Knoxville Marathon weekend events. It was a 1 mile run from Worlds Fair Park to the 50 yard line in Neyland Stadium. Trevor did a great job and has been asked to be on the cross country team next year.

Trev and Alexis at the Worlds Fair Park pre-race.
The race was broken into a wave start because of the big turn out. Trevor was randomly given a red dot, (the last start group) while the rest of his classmates were yellow (second start group). When the announced the yellow to the start line, all of his classmates were leaving. I told him to tear off his dot and go with them!
Trevor quickly caught up with the first wave.
This picture is blurry because A) my good camera is in the shop and B) I was only getting these shots because I was running along with him. I included it anyway because it shows how hard he was running.
Here he is arriving at the stadium, running uphill.
Trevor thought it was cool getting to be on the field.
Afterwards, the school grouped together for a group shot.
The school with the most participants wins $500 towards PE equipment. Last year Bluegrass Elementary won and it looks like they won again this year.
This is from last weekend when Trevor spent the night at Jack's house and Jack's sister Olivia also had a friend spending the night. Someone forgot the rule about NOT being the first one to fall asleep at sleepovers:)

Random Shot Sunday

The first weekend of spring brought with it a laundry list of home improvement projects and yard work, but that's okay, it's been fun. My real camera is in the shop after it jumped off of a garbage can earlier this week, so some of these shots are from Trevor's point and shoot camera.

Kind of an odd shot, because it looks like he posed for this, but actually he is sitting on his Razor motorcycle which is about 8" off of the ground. He had just pulled up to the driveway and the late afternoon sun was in almost perfect position to get the shot.I loved this shot because of how the goose is looking right at Trevor as if asking "Aren't you going to pay attention to me?"
One of the geese has become extremely protective of the island this year. When Trevor went onto the island, the goose swam to the island and chased him. Then the goose guarded the bridge, charging anytime Trevor tried to get to the bridge to get off. Finally, Trevor got the goose to chase him in one direction around the tree and then cut back straight to the bridge. Brett, Abbey and I were almost in tears from laughing so hard.Awwwwwww.......
Trevor loves his two electric rides. He goes all over the neighborhood with them but is very careful around cars. Serious? Not a chance....Trevor smoked his first ribs yesterday and of course, Sofa came to visit.Snow soldier.Say hello to my little friend...I've been working on a series of shots I want to take of Trevor at the old steam passenger train and was hoping to do it this weekend when the camera broke. Alexis bought the period dress clothes this week. If I pull it off right, it will be my contest entries.

It's now 7 am and the owl's hooting has given way to the song of the cardinals and blue birds. The sun will be up shortly and a day of playing in the grass and mulch awaits.

Rainy Saturday

It's a rainy, drizzly day in East Tennessee. I guess we'll just pack it in and watch the tournaments today. Here are a few shots from this week.

Brett goofing off while I played with my new lens on Wednesday.
Alexis and Trevor late Friday afternoon.
Trevor tries using some of the equipment that the workers at Y-12 and hazardous waste handlers use in Oak Ridge.
The traveling exhibit at the American Museum of Science and Energy is currently Crime Lab Detectives. Here he is collecting data at the crime scene. Next he viewed the witness/suspect interviews. After that he went to each lab station to analyze handwriting, fingerprints, foot prints, and other data to solve the crime.
