Snow Day Saturday

We got a little bit of snow (about 1") early this morning so everyone was up early. Trevor couldn't wait for breakfast and was out sledding and snowboarding on a very light accumulation. He, Jack, and Emma played until their fingers were numb.

Later, as the snow melted Brett and Abbey started making miniature snowmen. That quickly deteriorated into a snowball fight.

Abbey chasing Brett, telling him, "Don't run like a little girl!"

Seconds later, she was in full retreat as a snowball barely misses her (look just to the left of her rear).

Abbey tries to keep Brett from reloading.

By noon, everyone was soaking and cold. After a nap and a change of clothes, Brett and I watched Carolina almost pull off a KY miracle. While Alexis and Trevor finished decorating the Christmas tree.
Hope you all are having a great weekend.

November Fun

I was cleaning up pictures from SD cards to my hard drive today and thought I'd post some from this month.

Remember playing so hard as a kid that you could sleep in a position like this?

The gang goofing around one night. I can't even remember what we were doing.
Abbey lighting the candles on the cake that she made for Brett's 21st.

Brett got them all out....it's getting tougher with more candles every year:) Abbey and Brett hang out on Sunday afternoons doing home work and studying. Yes, she's wearing a coonskin hat. We are goofballs 90% of the time.

Season Is Over

Today turned out to be Trevor's last game after all. We were kept out of the play offs by Gibbs, the team we beat 28-0 last week, because they won their game Thursday night. To make it in the playoffs, we had to beat Farragut today, but lost. Honestly, Alexis and I were ready for a break anyway!

Today's game was at Schumpert field (the other field), which is located on top of a ridge. It's hard not to enjoy a game with this view on either side of you.

Trevor pursing from his linebacker position....

.....and catching.

Playing linebacker again.

Assisting on a tackle.

Always up against the bigger boys.

And I love these two shots, they were part of a 3 shot burst. Despite being double teamed and held in the first shot, he didn't quit.

Look at his eyes in the this shot. He is still in the play.

So he was very disappointed that the season is over and already talking about next year.

Boys will be boys

I heard hysterical laughter and loud crashing and bumps downstairs. I took my camera to investigate. I found two monkeys in the kitchen.

Also, Trevor posed a little old style with the replica 1851 Colt Navy Revolver.

Under the lights

The sunsets are coming sooner each practice. Trevor is working his tail off but loving it.

Weekend report

It's been a long week. All 4 of us have been fighting off either a mild cold or fall allergies, we're not sure which. Not everyone, every day. It's just been moving through us. Such is the life in fall in East TN.

Trevor is enjoying school so far. Brett starts back Monday.

Football is taking all of our free time right now. Practice 2 hours a night Mon-Wed, we had a game in a monsoon Thursday night (lost to Catholic 14-7), and a game yesterday (lost 30-0).

Trevor got to play significant time in yesterday's game against their rival, CBFO Farragut.
Only problem is he spent a bit of that time as a defensive lineman, a position he doesn't practice and is undersized for. And the other team is bigger anyway. See #71 in this picture? He's as big as adults.
Well.....just GUESS who Trevor ended up rushing against most of the game.
Ironically, I had just been talking with him about when he can't go THROUGH a player, trying to be smarter and go AROUND the player by stunting or spinning.
But either way, it was a LONG day for him. Here he is being double teamed by TWO kids way bigger than him.
At the end of the game, he was totally spent.
The photo of the day had to be this one of Trevor, Jack (best friend, neighbor, and classmate), and two teammates after the game. It reminded me of how after the baseball games when I played for the Lake Lucina Youth Association Dodgers, we'd all go behind the main concession stand and play game after game of "cup ball". It was a baseball game using a crushed red wax Coke cup as the ball and we'd just use our hand as the bat. Silly I know but those were fun games.

First day of school

Chris, on the way to football practice: So how did you like your new teacher?

Trevor: I like her. She wears high heals and is a fashion lady.

I guess he's got standards.
